This cable worked as expected when I switched from a 21" Ross Mount Rushmore bike to a 17" Trek Antelope 800 series bike. Since I'm 5.10, the 21" Ross was an X-Large frame size, which is too big for me anyway, if I change my components from Ross to Trek, of course the old gear cable was too short, after all bike brakes and gear cables are not meant to be reused, sometimes you can get by without and sometimes I got away with it, but not this time, not to mention that reusing cables is usually never a good idea because unfortunately once the cable wears out or the individual strands are loosened to the max, then the old cord will have to be thrown into the garage and replaced, if now, for example, individual strands have come loose, but this is fixable, you just need to rewind the thread, and then take a lighter and heat the area where loosen the strands of metal wire until the metal turns a tanish black which keeps the cable from fraying or if you have solder you can do that too. I bev prefer now the stainless steel shifter from Shimano. les, but my only criticism of Shimano is that they are usually only 2100mm long, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. In my case sometimes they are not enough for a rear derailleur and I often have to buy a longer cable because in my case if I buy or get a bike from someone with a low threaded gooseneck or low threaded stem I usually buy a longer one Threaded stem or non-threaded stem extension, in this case you will need to lengthen the brake housing (BCH) and the shift housing (SCH). This shift cable worked on my bike and I was able to set up the shift fairly quickly with no issues. I love this cable and it works very well, I recommend this product.
