Review on πŸ”’ Enhanced Privacy Filter for Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch with Retina Display (PFMR15) by Ryan Carter

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works well but difficult to store and keep clean once removed.

Pros: Works as advertised, thin, good quality, leaves no marks on MacBook, and requires no clips to attach to MacBook. Easy to attach and detach, does not reduce the brightness or clarity of the monitor too much (when viewed directly). Cons: Poor instructions (takes a second to figure out you need to glue the blue stripes to the back of the filter). More importantly, the adhesive strips are missing (there is no adhesive strip on top of my filter now, and when I place the monitor upright, the filter buckles or detaches). In addition, there is no good solution for storing the filter (I only use it when traveling, for example on the plane). Once removed, the adhesive strips tend to pick up dirt. The instructions mention that rinsing with warm water will clean the strips and I've tried that and it seems to work fine. I myself now store the filter in a makeshift plastic case, but 3M should consider selling a "travel case" to store it and keep it from warping or dirt.

  • Inspires Confidence
Cons
  • Sad Hardware
