Tested on 4 separate units - each leaked

UPDATE July 2021 - Elevated Craft Cocktail Shaker is what I need. If you can afford it, don't even bother. I've been using mine for about 7-8 months now and it annoys me that I didn't buy a backup during the Kickstarter campaign because they are phenomenal. I've put all my other shakers away and haven't touched my Boston shaker since I got the EC. ------------- ---- This shaker has so much potential that it's simply useless because it leaks. I've tried swapping these out 3 times (i.e. I've tested 4 different devices) of the same shaker and every one of them has leaked. This is very disappointing because I know for sure there are leak free devices (my friend has the exact same product and it doesn't leak). However, after trying 4 different ones, I gave up. Advantages: > Stainless steel. Steel > Brushed steel looks great > Nice neck that's easy to clean > Double wall vacuum cooling should cool drinks and keep them colder longer without diluting them as much as regular shakers. Disadvantages: > Leaks. It is of very poor quality, fragile and brittle. Each of the boxes was either slightly broken when I received them or slightly broken when I removed the shaker. This is actually not a scam, just additional information. If I had read this review I would have been skeptical and wondered if this was just another case of user error. To reduce this anxiety for you, let me share my testing methodology. I can't think of a single case where shakers are designed to shake anything other than frozen (or at least cold) drinks. As such, all of my testing was done with cold water first, and then cold water with ice. somewhere near the fill line, just to be doubly sure it's not user error.) 2) Make sure there is no water anywhere on the block other than the internal cavity (I wanted to make sure all leaks are real leaks and not just water). I sprayed before sealing the device) 3) Put on the cap and press firmly to seal (after initial tests showed leaks, I actually hit it a couple of times on recent tests, to ensure maximum sealing). possible.) 4) Begin shaking while applying as much pressure as possible on the device to ensure a tight seal. I'm a relatively strong guy in my 20's so we're not talking about someone who can't apply the right amount of pressure to keep the block closed. While shaking doesn't seem that difficult, I made sure to watch a few instructional videos from professional bartenders on how to properly use a cobbler shaker to make sure I was doing everything right (including shaking). I had a leak every time. And not always from the same place. Some shakers leak a little less than others, but when it comes to potentially sticky drinks, any kind of leakage is totally unacceptable. I contacted OXO to see if they had any issues with people who had reported leaks from this device in the past and they said no - I'm not sure they don't have a good system for logging product complaints if they lied. if the people having problems just deal with the leak a little bit if they don't call and complain or something. They also offered to replace it with another similar block, but I don't like the look or the added complication of this block (this is the one with a flatter cover and a snap button seal - it can clog as well). and the button area is very difficult to clean properly.) *** I have to say that Revain's customer service has been impeccable. They even expedited delivery (next day) when I started having problems. It was great working with this company and I don't blame them for any issues I had with the product! ***
