Good idea, but patience is needed
Looked like a good idea, but it's not that easy in practice. Consider how small the diamonds are, how wide the circle is. Tape a tiny, narrow piece of double-sided tape (it's very sticky) around the circle. Roll to pick up a row of diamonds. Then unfold them in your painting. Maybe with a little more practice, but patience is really required.
