I have sent the stretcher back. It consists of two parts - top and bottom. You have to twist it together - which isn't usually a problem. However, due to the way the plastic comb was made, the nuts could not reach the bottom of the bolts. There just wasn't room to put nuts on bolts! I gave up and returned it and got a slightly more expensive medium that wasn't that difficult to assemble. I ended up buying a Petmate Two Door Top Load which was only about $10 on a storage contract and was well worth that extra $10. It fits my 17 lb cat perfectly and is big enough for my 22 lb puppy too!
