Random Explosion - Halogen Bulbs

Dimmable halogen bulbs are hard to find. Most of them are LED, and while they're supposed to be dimmable, they stay pretty bright white even when they're completely off. These halogen bulbs actually dim, giving off a nice amber glow when dimmed and a nice bright white light when fully on. However, two of them accidentally exploded or simply fell out of their nest and shattered glass when they hit the ground. The strange thing is that the thread stays screwed in and keeps working. Only the outer glass of the bulb falls out. When this first happened I had no idea where the broken glass came from as all the overhead lights looked fine until a few days later I noticed that one of the lights only had a central filament with no glass bulb. The same thing happened a few weeks later when another lightbulb accidentally fell out of the ceiling and exploded on the floor. Here, too, the light seems to be on all the time (see photo). It seems dangerous to me. Who likes to risk broken glass when you least expect it?
