Using a socket wrench didn't hold it tight enough around the lug but allowed it to expand a little. I used vice grip pliers sideways to clamp them tight to get a good cut. use a little oil. I had my teenagers change out my studded tires and they cross threaded several lugs with the impact wrench.I saw other ones had a rubber band around them in a slot. I didn't realize that would keep falling on the ground while I was trying to position them. Not a problem after the first one.You must remove the wheel first to get down to some good thread and then back them off.Over all worked great and saved my hubs.
