Review on We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill-Fine Tip Pen: 6 Piece Set for Crafters by Wendy Rodriguez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Difficult to use, wears out quickly

I used a thin foil tip to design some aspects of my wedding invitations and had mixed results. I always use this product with my Cricut which voids the warranty but works a thousand times better than the Cricut foil product. It takes some skill to use this, including warming up (I always wait about 15 minutes) and firmly applying a sheet of transfer tape. I use We R Memory Keepers tape and have only had occasional breaks, but have also been able to constantly reuse chunks of tape when doing projects back-to-back, saving tons of tape. However, I rate this with 3 stars because I currently have 3 of them and the quality continues to decrease. After so many foil projects, the tip will become dull and no matter how well you tape the sheet, heat the pen, or adjust the pressure, it will tear the foil transfer sheet and ruin the project. My first pen came in a 3-pack with a medium to heavy tip and lasted the longest. I had to buy 2 more to finish my wedding projects and the last pen only lasted about 50 projects before becoming unusable. The results when they work are great and this is the best slide method if you only have Cricut and want to create a nice design, but you can't create the filled text look and it's difficult to get good results every time - which results in wasted materials about 20% of the time, even after you get used to how best to use the product.
