I am a volunteer curator at a small museum in southern Indiana. We recently had a fire inspection and found that continuous or prolonged use of extension cords is not allowed. However, the permanent use of plug-in assemblies with overvoltage protection is permissible. We had a lighted glass display case that had not one but 2 extension cords to power its location. The fire inspector told me that the extension cords needed to be removed. Then he showed me this surge protector on his phone.
