Review on πŸ”’ Enhanced Privacy Filter for Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch with Retina Display (PFMR15) by Dan West

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Reflective surface, large notch on top.

I cut it to fit the HP Envy Sleekbook 6Z-1100 but cut it 3mm in length so I have 2mm gaps left and right. This is not 3M's fault. When installed with "3M FFMR15” embossed on the top edge, legibly facing me (rather than the other way around), the privacy filter is incredibly reflective, allowing almost any light source behind you to create glare on the screen. I installed the filter with adhesive strips but will probably switch to tabs for easy removal when using the laptop in bright light. Haven't tried flipping the filter yet, maybe its anti-glare property is on the other side. Installation is easy, but it's easy to get air bubbles stuck in the tape unless you start at one end and carefully use a plastic card or similar to run along the strip to push it down. privacy is good; The filter starts hiding information at around +/- 45 degrees, but the person sitting next to you doesn't have to lean too far before they can see the information that appears at the edge of your screen. 3M put a HUGE trapezoidal notch at the top center of the filter, presumably for easy removal, but that's about the tip of your thumb. A bit annoying.
