Holes in perforated lid are too small for mashed peppers

This looks like the classic mashed red pepper shaker you might find in a pizza parlor, but the holes in the perforated lid are closed to most finely chopped red peppers, which you can find at the grocery store. You'll end up with just paprika dust and a few flakes that are slightly smaller. Most of the crushed peppers remain in the jar. Holes are probably fine for some finely ground spices, but not your regular mashed red peppers.
