Although I give this product 3 stars I really think it is a quality food and my cat has been eating and enjoying it for several years. Unfortunately, a month ago he suffered from urinary tract obstruction and partial obstruction and his diet needs to be changed. I thought I would be great at feeding him quality grain free food, but after doing some research I'm wondering if some of these foods contain too many things that cats just don't need, or are actually counterproductive to their health. For example, this meal has almost a dozen fruits and vegetables + potato flour. In the wild, cats are given few vegetables and require a predominantly meat-based diet. Sounds great and healthy to us, but do our cats really need spinach and carrots? The answer is no. I've also read that some of the senior foods (as well as all solids) have an even greater impact on keeping the cat adequately hydrated, which can lead to constipation problems in males. The whole wet or raw food, if it really is the best. If my cat likes this dry food, I will probably feed her the rest of the wet food as well. But our male will be on a prescription diet as he will switch to anything wet. Also, as someone else mentioned, my cat only ate half of this food for some reason. Much of this ended up on the floor outside of the bowl, so there may be waste. I appreciate companies trying to make better pet food, I'm just not sure if some of the ingredients are beneficial or even harmful.
