Review on 🔋 A23 12V Alkaline 23-A Replacement Battery 23AE GP - 20 Pack: Long-lasting Power Solution for Your Devices by Born Bowman

This may not be a popular type of battery so it has probably been on the shelf for a long time. I have 3 remotes and 2 doorbells that use this type so figured this set of 20 would last a few years. The packages I received were dated "best before 2018" and had the date code 11 5 11 at the top. If they were made in 2011 their GP quoted 6-8 year shelf life is nearing the end. Also, they are current makers of GP types, which is another sign that they've been on the shelf for a while. The current GP type is the RoHS compliant 23AF battery as 23AE batteries still contain mercury and lead. The first one I tried was already dead, with 3 internal LR932 cells already leaking. The rest are still good, but have fewer milliamps than those that haven't yet been replaced. Had I known these were old stock I would have specifically looked for Gold Peak brand 23AF batteries.
