The XLT Diagonal 2" Monitor is beautifully finished and comes in an elegant metal box with foam. At first I thought some parts were plastic, but closer inspection revealed they were all metal, although some of the metal is so carefully polished and painted perfectly black that it can be mistaken for plastic. It screwed easily and securely onto the back of my old Celestron 8, although I did find a bit of stiffness when I let go of the device to rotate it to a different angle. This is easily solved by lubricating the threads. I only wax them. The drawer pull sold at home improvement stores will work, and even white candle wax is fine. Simply rub it onto the telescope threads and wipe off the excess with a paper towel before fitting the pieces together. The eyepieces are easy to insert and I really appreciate the bronze inner ferrules which prevent damage to the screws on the eyepieces and help keep the eyepieces secure. excellent, although my initial test was limited by the viewing conditions. It significantly outperforms the diagonal of the prism it replaces. In summary this is a high quality, well made and finished diagonal at a really good price. It's great value and a great way to upgrade your SCT.
