I bought this for my husband as he doesn't have a brown belt to match the brown loafers I also bought for him. I would say it's a light brown but it still goes well with most brown shoes. I took a large size because my husband had a waist of 36, but he sometimes went to a size of 34-35, and I do not buy medium, and later he needs a large. I am a large size to have a permit in case the size is wrong but I was wrong. The large size is large for my husband's 36 waist but it's still good that I bought the large size because you can remove the screw, cut the length and drill another hole with the template you cut out. Overall this is a good stylish belt for evening wear and comes highly recommended.
