4 inch 10GA hoses work well for pushing (sliding) these seals onto the hub. It fits snugly onto the axle shaft, so be sure to lubricate the inside of the seal and its shaft (Teflon grease worked great). I suspect that the early failure of these 2-piece seals could be due to possible loosening of the hub bearings, which can happen especially after fitting new bearings (probable problem at the factory as well). (The outer bearing outer ring will eventually move inward until it stops, which is a C-clamp) so it's best to periodically check for free play (tire off the ground). A spongy brake pedal is a good sign of loose hub bearings. .
