I have been using black charcoal powder to whiten my teeth for over a year. I love activated charcoal because I can definitely see results. It whitens my teeth and my mouth feels fresh afterwards. But black charcoal makes my gums and teeth very sensitive. Another problem with using black charcoal is the mess it creates in my bathroom. A friend of mine recommended that I try White Birch Charcoal Whitening Toothpaste a few months ago because he didn't find the same issues with this product. So I bought White Birch and here are my findings: Pros: 1. For some reason the activated charcoal in White Birch is white. This fixed the black clutter issue in my bathroom. My teeth and gums are not sensitive after using this product twice a day for several weeks3. White birch works much better than black charcoal for lightening4. White birch has a creamy consistency. I think it has something to do with jojoba oil. But the mouthfeel is much more comfortable than powder and traditional toothpaste.5. Black powder would leave small black particles in my gums, white birch leaves no particles.5. It has a very pleasant taste and leaves a fresh mint aftertaste. Cons: 1. When Revain delivered White Birch the box and tube were slightly dented. It didn't matter much and didn't stop me from using it.
