Okay, let me start by packing something for the first time. I don't even wrap presents lol. That being said, I am absolutely amazed at how well it worked. I really can't believe I did it myself! I was very hesitant at first but with a few DIY videos for advice. I am very satisfied with the result. The negative reviews here talk about the glue, the vinyl getting brittle, the vinyl wrinkling, but literally all of that could be repaired with a handy heat gun. Even a hair dryer. Here are some tips I've learned that I'd like to read about here: CLEAN YOUR ITEMS THOROUGHLY. Simply wiping with microfiber does not help. Isopropyl alcohol or clay fencing will remove contaminants that can affect vinyl adhesion. Especially along the edge or where you come into a turn. ALWAYS USE A LITTLE MORE OF YOUR NEED, once you've measured out how much you need, snip off an inch or two more. This helps if you encounter creases, air bubbles, or "fingers" (big long creases that you can't smooth out) on the excess vinyl, making it easier to pull on the vinyl to pry something out. It also helps when you pull the vinyl, it prevents possible tearing. It also gives you peace of mind that you've trimmed enough to properly wrap the edges of the folds or creases. THE HEATER GUN/HAIR DRYER IS YOUR BEST FRIEND Use as little heat as possible. Useful if you preheat the vinyl before applying it to the object. It becomes soft and stretchy so when you apply the vinyl it not only adheres better but also becomes flexible and conforms to the shape of your object. (e.g. curves, lines, etc.) When you get to the edge, the application of heat will cause the vinyl to fall over the edge on its own and adhere better. Is your vinyl brittle? Warm up! Is your vinyl wrinkled? apply heat! Do you feel like you haven't trimmed enough and can't wrap the edge? Apply heat and stretch! - DO NOT BE AFRAID OF PULLING OR LIFTING. This is a very durable material. Also, don't go to extremes and don't stretch. WATCH CAREFULLY HOW YOU APPLY VINY. If an air bubble appears where you just applied the vinyl, it's easier to push back and remove the bubble than to finish it. You wrap up and see that air bubble you missed that's in the dead center of your object, forcing you to actually roll your object halfway to get that bubble out because you know it's going to bother you. You can use an old credit or gift card (tape the edge you will be using with tape to avoid scratching) or a squeegee to ensure the vinyl adheres to the entire surface. This also prevents the formation of air bubbles. REMEMBER TO USE AFTER HEATING After you've finished wrapping, apply heat to the entire area you wrapped. This is just as important as preparing the area you wish to cover. Subsequent heating prevents the vinyl from attempting to stretch and return to its natural shape. That way, after heating, you know your wrapper won't rise or curl. It is best to use a heat gun, the hairdryer may be too weak for this. Hope that helps! Enjoy!
