Put this in a '93 XJ, fits easily. But I have a 3-pipe cooler that is wider than stock so the distance between them was less than an inch. All seemed fine and dandy in normal driving, but I hit the track and there was enough deflection for the fan to touch the radiator. I now have a standard single core heatsink and the spacing is much better. I think everything will be fine, including on the track. I don't know what caused the initial overheating issues, it was a system issue when the temperature is high outside or on the track. I don't think it was the stock clutch. Although more liquid flows through the aftermarket tri-core heatsink, I suspect it just wasn't letting enough air through due to its thickness. Regardless, now with the stock radiator and that faster fan clutch, if the engine temp starts to rise as soon as I step on the gas pedal, the temp drops immediately. I'm very happy with how it works. As for the noise, I don't notice it. With 35-inch tires and the signature wind noise and other rumble typical of the XJ, the little extra noise it makes can't get over them. if you have a thicker radiator.
