About a month ago I added this 80m coil to my super antenna. I'm in a very restricted area and wanted to join the 75 meter network that meets early in the morning. Let's be honest, dear radio amateurs, no shortened 80 meter antenna will help. However, the coil works and I can communicate with most guys. Would I rather have an older G5RV antenna in the air? Sure, but that's not possible here. I can install this antenna on my back deck in 4 minutes or less. I have a super antenna on an old camera tripod and I added a 1/4 wave (about 64 feet) radial that runs through the flower bed. I only use a radial. I also run about 15 feet of #10 wire to the ground rod. I'm not going to dig 8 or 10 64 foot radials in the ground. I hope this helps you decide.
