Review on 🚤 High-Quality Sierra 18-3454 Marine Water Pump Kit: Perfect for Johnson and Evinrude Outboard Motor Maintenance by Justin Torres

Probably a very good kit. I have asked several marine mechanics about this and all have given high praise to the Sierra products and have consistently used these water pump kits. However, I pulled an OEM Johnson/Evinrude impeller out of my 50hp Johnson that had 1000 hours (about 8 or 9 years) in it and it still worked perfectly. The impeller itself was very powerful with a seemingly solid bronze core. The Sierra Kit used a composite core that was significantly lighter. This probably wouldn't be a problem, but the OEM impeller had 2 o-rings that sealed the shaft above and below the impeller. The Sierra kit only had one o-ring. When I called the seller, he confirmed that they didn't have an o-ring, that they only came with one. Then I called Sierra. Not only could they not explain why only 1 o-ring would be required, they sounded like they didn't care. The support person I spoke to said he couldn't tell me anything until the next day. What? I returned the Sierra kit and bought the OEM Johnson/Evinrude even though it was about $10 more.
