Was hoping it would be good for "removing" surface rot from aged treated wood. The relief of the grain is "rustic", it is also a "barn board". It turns out that a wire brush does this much better. There are nylon grinding wheels that work but have an "open" bristle structure. The bristles on it are densely packed and morph into a mismatched cylindrical body as the wheel spins, so they can't get into the nooks and crannies and let the grain speak for itself. I think it's more suitable for metal work like deburring and scaling.
