Overall these measuring scoops are good for measuring ground coffee or dispensing beans. They are shiny and attractive and bring joy when making coffee. They're also surprisingly, embarrassingly heavy. The packaging says "Thick and strong for eternity" and I have to agree. In principle, these spoons can also be used for normal food preparation. Anyway, I've found these tablespoon measurements to be a little less accurate than average. Using a thin digital scale and sifted flour, I tested a series of spoons and aligned them with a ruler in the prescribed manner. I first tested two different brands of plastic TBs that I've used for decades and found that they differed by only 3%. In addition, their average volume differed by less than 2% from the sum of the three measured teaspoons - definition of TB. So I'm pretty confident in my old measuring spoons. I then compared these stainless steel spoons with the average of two plastic spoons. I have found that a 1TB stainless steel spoon is 8% higher and a 2TB spoon is 14% higher per TB. This would be very important and unsatisfying in a science lab, but it certainly doesn't matter for most culinary applications, especially considering most people have very old spices in their cupboards that are probably over 14% less effective. Also, cooking is more of an art than an analytical science. However, I use my spoons to make coffee. I can live with 14% more caffeine. no problem. The product is made in China. I received this item for free as a Vine reviewer. My review is honest and objective as if I paid for the product.
