A minor manufacturer error broke the cable within 150 miles

This was my first experience with a Jagwire cable and although the cable shifted very smoothly initially, eventually it began to skip shifts and not downshift. When adjusting the rear derailleur, I noticed a broken cable. I untied the cable and removed it from the housing leading to the rear derailleur. 3 threads were interrupted for unknown reasons. I was trying to run the shifter wire through this part of the house and all of a sudden there was a lot of resistance where the end cap had been crimped. Apparently, at this point there was some kind of protrusion that rubbed the strands of the cable. I tried opening it with an awl but since it was a double ended feature the strands could be worn again. I stripped the cable and ordered 2 half price Shimano cables from a Jagwire. I'll just change them every year. While the smooth shifting was nice, this slight lack of finish ruined my experience with the Jagwire, allowing me to only give this product 3 stars.
