I bought two of these blocks to combine several kits together. I bought red for SAE sockets and blue for metric. I had several sets of sockets from different manufacturers. Some without heels, some from here, some from there, you know how it is. I had to constantly switch from case to case to find what I needed. And most manufacturers put them in boxes on the side, and they're hard to get to, especially in small outlets. In any case, this was a great way to create and expose a full set of sockets. This allows me to bring everything together in one place and doesn't have to search through different sets to find what I need. I wanted something lightweight as the sockets are quite heavy without the addition of a metal bar or tray like most socket holders. I was most concerned about the socket blocking on graduate work, but I have to say I'm really impressed. You simply insert the socket into the holder and rotate it a quarter turn. Boom locked! You can put this thing upside down and shake it and it won't come off and it's very easy to take it off with one hand. I also like the fact that you can purchase additional 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2" socket holders to create the set you need. Just pull this rod out of the tray. Although I don't have it It was time to sit down and do it, each tray comes with a set of size labels on the holders so you can easily see what's missing after work is done that you have to iterate over to find what you need to need.
