Works well for crowning frets on guitars

I bought one set about 6 weeks ago and liked it so much that I ordered 3 more. While the diamond grit needle file sets are readily available I have never seen a set like this which has 6 identical flat wires of different grits going up to 600. I have found this indispensable for crowning guitar frets but they should work equally well for any metals you need to shape. For guitar frets I had to remove the grit on the edges and found that the two coarsest files were able to do that just fine.

Pros
  • Appear to be a good value, for cost, as a machinist these are handy for sharpening a variety of items
Cons
  • Not real bad. I wanted some of them to be sharp on the corners. I will see how long they last.

About time I bought a new file.

I’ve had a small fine flat file that has been my favorite for forty years. Yes, really.I have bought other fine work file sets, but they always have just one flat file and other shaped ones I rarely have a need for. These are all flat, which is much more useful. They are also a little larger than my 40 year old and subsequently purchased kits.I am not sure how to select the right coarseness in the file kit for specific applications but will figure it out.I was using a mid grit file and it was…

Pros
  • They are smaller than I expected but were fine to do the job for which I needed them. Worked well.
Cons
  • Holding the file may be difficult for those with mobility issues

Great Deal best in my review

I do some guitar repair. These are great and just the right for fret dressing and filing small parts. They come in different grits 40 to 6oo grit. Not bad for around 10.00 dollar. They even have a case tto store them in.*******

Pros
  • Files & Rasps
Cons
  • Could leave scratches or marks on the surface being sharpened

Incredible for the price

Great deal for the price! Worked out to just over a dollar per file, and they work great. The diamonds are plated on and will eventually fall off, but for this price I can just buy new ones every year or so and have nice new sharp files at all times.

Pros
  • Files are 7" / 180mm long in 40, 80, 150, 240, 400, & 600 grits
Cons
  • The set may not be suitable for heavy daily use

Good for Stained Glass detailing

I bought these files to use on stained glass to shape concave angles (finish the inner tip of angles after grinding as far in as I could)They did the job: several grits/fineness were useful. Their plastic handle was secured to the file, easy to grip and work with. The only negative is that 1 of the files don't really fit all the way in the plastic pouch (not a big deal).I am happy with my purchase!

Pros
  • Works as described.
Cons
  • Diamond grit may come off during sharpening

well worth the money

i used these to resharpen my anvil type pruning shears that i thought were no good After I honed a super sharp edge on blades they worked like new!

Pros
  • Wide selection of grits, nice heft and feel. Used for slight adjustment of Glock ejector.
Cons
  • They lose their grit quickly-but something better. Chinese junk

Good selection of grits

These files are usable for small work where a flat file is needed. I am using these to supplement a selection of other files in various shapes.

Pros
  • Long-lasting, heavy-duty build for repeated use
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those looking for a quick sharpening solution

great value for the price

These did pretty well for my needs. not top quality but good enough for the job and especially for the price. i used them to file down some fret ends on my stringed instruments. they did nicely at a fraction of the cost of a "fret-end file" nice little files that and fairly rugged. good value.

Pros
  • These files cut really well, as you would expect from a diamond abrasive. Good price.
Cons
  • The set may not fit in smaller toolboxes

excellent for purpose, but/and .

excellent . My only comment woujld be that the set shoujld be much larger: ie, the finest grit is 600 . I'd like a set that went up to 5000 . yes, seriously : i sharpen knives too . Files such as these are so easily held by hand to work the edge of a vise-clamped kitchen knife .

Pros
  • Product was exactly what I expected and will use to put an edge on router bits.
Cons
  • Not suitable for sharpening serrated edges

Well it's ok - my new review

Overall I got what I asked for. The quality matches the price. You can tell it's been dipped in a gritty solution to make the abrasive surface. It' s not cut grooves in the metal like I hoped. It' ok overall but I don't know how long it will last with heavy use.

Pros
  • Not quite as versatile as I would like, but they work well for what they are,
Cons
  • Diamond grit may wear down quicker than expected

Percision files. Metal working.

These are small precision files. about half as thick as your small finger and not for heavy filing. Great for gunsmithing or small metal shaping.

Pros
  • Ergonomic handle design provides a comfortable grip
Cons
  • May not be suitable for everyday use

They work well and I like the variety from rough to fine

Have used these on a variety of projects. They work well and I like the variety from rough to fine. Plastic holder they come with is a joke but the files are great. I ended up storing them in an old wrench holder I wasn't using.

Pros
  • These are nice for touching up carbide tool bits etc.
Cons
  • Not as precise as other sharpening methods

Easy to use! - my new review

Saved me having to replace the pitcher from my Krups blender. My husband chipped it loading the dishwasher. Saved me from having to replace the husband!

Pros
  • works good
Cons
  • May be too time-consuming for some consumers

For the right job, this is the right tool

So I had these for a few months before I finally used them, but now having done so I'm very happy. First quality: Good to great, solid tool and the grit is firmly attached, also no issues with the rubber handle seems like it will stand up to some use.I use these to file down a glass digitizer on and iPad install. My wife had dropped it as is common and the corners of the metal were deformed, after wasting some time trying to bend them back (no luck) I just took the glass down a bit. Easy simple

Pros
  • Saves money by extending the life of tools
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those with allergies to diamond grit

Nice little files for metalwork

This is a set of small diamond files with 6 different levels of coarseness. I have primarily used them for making jewelry and some other precision metal work. These have worked well for me for about 6 months so far.I used them to get an edge on a knife that had been badly abused and then followed that up with whetstones. Rescued the knife. The files are small and that can be difficult to tell from the images without something in the picture for reference. The actual part that does the filing is…

Pros
  • Comes in a convenient carrying case
Cons
  • Could be prone to slipping or sliding during use

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very well made, for $10. You cannot beat it.

Bought several sets of different diamond files, these were the best. Length of cut is excellent, @ 4". Width is @ 3/8". Full set includes full range of grits, with the grit number stated on the pouch. Pouch is not hard-backed, which makes rolling them up easy. I did notice that the finer grits tend to have a little show-through machining marks from the base metal, but since the surface is still flat, it does not affect performance for the majority of users. No better value out there, with…

Pros
  • Great quality for the price
Cons
  • May not be as effective as other sharpening methods

Plastic grips cracked and falling apart upon arrival

You know the old saying "you get what you pay for"? Well, it applies to this product as well. The quality of the files themselves seems to be alright. However, the plastic handles were cracking and falling apart when I pulled them out of the packaging for the first time.

Pros
  • Power & Hand Tools
Cons
  • The handle may be uncomfortable for some users

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Coarse files good, fine files poor, 600# file not useable

Actual dimensions of the coated part of the files in 9.5mm x 2mm x 70mm.I am not sorry I bought them because the coarse files are pretty good. However the fine files, especially the 600#, are poor because the coating on them is so uneven. You have a diamond-hard lumpy thing that carves strange shapes into surfaces, which is not so good for most of the things you'd want a fine file for.

Pros
  • High-quality craftsmanship for professional results
Cons
  • May not be as effective as electric or handheld sharpeners

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Inexpensive = Cheap

Sometimes you just get what you pay for.Cheap if you take out all the files at one time, better have a good eye.they are not labeled.

Pros
  • Ideal for sharpening a variety of tools including chainsaws, knives, and scissors
Cons
  • May have a shorter lifespan than other sharpening methods

Good for shaping and polishing stones

These little files are perfect for my hobby, shaping and polishing stones by hand. The are about the size of a ball point pen. The packaging left me feeling a little leery about the quality, but for the price they are a great tool.

Pros
  • Designed for precision and accuracy
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those looking for the sharpest edge possible
