Reliable. Do not be shy. Get one.

I was skeptical, but after a few months I'm very satisfied. Thunder Clap is great. This required an adapter and I went with the 6" cable which adds $100 to the cost but now I can share 2 USB ports with a second HDD port. Since I have 2 Thunderbolt displays, I can now get 5 inches from my faster i7 CPU and a second monitor connected to the i5 that doesn't render 4K smoothly. I used the second USB port on the back of the display for this. The hard drive works perfectly. I have an SSD hard drive with a second Thunderbolt/USB port. I had a weird random problem connecting to my previous Western Digital Drive. I had no problems with this drive. I wish it was as fast as SSD, but I never notice any issues unless the drive is idle and I see a spinning icon and a brief pause as it spins up. In fact, working with HD audio and graphics seems almost as fast as the SSD once woke up. Unless you work with video and don't have huge files I think 2 of these will serve most people better than a raid drive which I think will only give you 14TB for about the same price as 2 of those 14TB drives offers. Money is generally better invested in more space than in the increased speed a heist can achieve. Raid drives have come a long way but are still notorious for their bugs. I add 2terabyte USB ssds as I can afford for the VSTs and samples I want to get right away and try to keep all save data on those drives so speed isn't an issue. Mine didn't get noticeably hot. A slight click can be heard during operation. It's not a problem if you don't record vocals. The drive must be moved away from the microphone.
