Having replaced the exhaust NOx sensor on my 2013 Ram 3500 this past July March this year it seems it was time to that the exhaust sensor failed. The check engine light came on and when I plugged in my OBD2 code reader I found the code was "P229F - Powertrain". After a bit of research I found out that this code is related to the lower NOx sensor which is located on the exhaust pipe behind the diesel particulate filter and scr catalyst. On my truck, it's on the passenger side, about a foot in front of the rear wheel. The difference in replacing this part compared to the top sensor is day and night. I had a new part installed in less than 20 minutes and I didn't even get my hands dirty! Remember that this sensor has an oval electrical connector and the top sensor has a square connector. You don't have to pay the merchant more than $1,000 for this simple solution.
