That thing is cool! It's over 90 degrees outside and quite humid. I have two window air conditioners and it's nice and cool and dry in here. I plugged this thing in this morning and turned it on. From time to time you hear a hissing. This was to be expected. Water must flow into the tank, and water entering the water produces little noise. The cable is quite long, which is very good. I live in an old brownstone in Boston and there aren't as many outlets as there are in more modern homes. As for the noise, it's just a low hum from the engine that you don't even notice. I'm definitely giving this a thumbs up.
