Review on Coolsheep Motorcycle Universal Guards Protector by Ken Vargas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Strong attachment. Easy landing on a 2017 KLR650 with mods

The OEM handguard didn't hold up on my KLR650 at speed and I didn't want to install a full wrap handguard to save space on the handlebars. for jamming and increased vibration. With some creative effort I was able to fit these guards and keep the OEM end weights. The brackets supplied with the guards allow you to mount the inside directly onto the stock handlebar. To mount to the end of the bar I designed my own mount by replacing the bar weight screw with an 8mm bolt, spacer and 8mm coupler. This allowed me to hold the heavy end of the anti-vibration rod and then had an 8mm female thread on the end of the rod to mount the protective cover. I'm happy with how it turned out. The guards are very strong and protect your hands from brushes and even medium-sized limbs in the terrain. They may not withstand a hard fall, but they are a cheap replacement. They offer excellent wind protection on the road and look great after you peel off those ugly yellow reflective stripes. I have the solid black version. The included bar end mounts are plastic and may work but feel very flimsy.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Useless features
