I bought these lights in June 2019, 9 months ago. Only one chain is currently working while the other only lasted 6 months. They line the inside edge of my open pavilion. They emit enough brightness to create a soft, warm atmosphere. If you're looking for bright lighting, this isn't for you. Mood light is more than what I would call this light. The bulbs are quite small but that's what I was looking for. The solar panels are south facing and receive sunlight all day. The circuit, which is still running, operates all night and will be operational by 5am. That's why I gave 2 stars when reviewing 2 strands together. As for the remote, I never got one and didn't know it was included until writing this review. So obviously I couldn't see the remote control.
