Review on Magnatab — A To Z Uppercase — Activity For Fun And Learning — Sensory Activity — Ages 3+ by Rico Posley

Useful learning tool

My daughter has a disability (Down’s Syndrome), but she has always enjoyed "doing her homework” which was typically tracing out letters with pencil or pen on paper. I got this to see if it would be more available to use (we were constantly running out of her pre-printed pattern sheets). So far she seems to enjoy it.You move the pen over the letters, which pulls little balls up to fill holes and hold there magnetically. When you are done, you sweep your fingers over the letters and push the balls out of the holes so you can start over again. The unit is small and lightweight, so we carry it with us on long car trips to give her something to do. There is an obvious place to store the pen so it doesn’t get lost. She likes it, so I consider this a success.

Pros
  • With the Magnatab, kids can learn the alphabet at their own pace and receive positive reinforcement as they progress
Cons
  • Limited opportunities for building spatial awareness or visual skills
