Just starting to use gouache. It's a little different than what I know how to use and it takes a little getting used to. I bought these because I didn't want to spend more than $40 on an expensive set and worried about wasting paint and ending up never using them. This set is great for the price! There's so much color in there and you really don't even need a lot to make something. A little goes a long way. I see that they will take a while. Can't say much about the quality or compare but I thought as I'm trying out a new medium this set would be great for me to start with. After drying, the colors did not lighten or darken. They seemed pretty consistent. On paper they would reactivate if I applied too much water or painted over part of the image. After the layers have dried, it's easy to add more paint to them. Just make sure to limit the amount of water you add. And a palette! This is an amazing little box to keep your paints after this set runs out! It comes with a mixing bowl inside. It will be great to help me practice. I definitely recommend it.
