I was given some advice from a friend to try a glass file. I'd read the hype on the keratin and strengthening, and the jury is still out on that one yet (I haven't had one long enough). I can say I absolutely love how they feel using them - so smooth and silky, doesn't leave any rough edges of riping feeling. so far very impressed.I was worried about durability after reading some reviews. Time will tell, but I can tell you I literally drop the darn thing on a tile floor within 5 minutes of opening it and it stayed in tacked. I also have a smaller glass one about 3" long (different vendor) and it only came in a thick plastic sleeve. I bought that one for my purse and so far (about 2 weeks of toting it around) I haven't had any breaks with it either.
