I bought this key to use as a stand alone key remote with a broken remote. (If it had worked I would have cut off the uncut shank of this key. The remote worked perfectly - just 3 weeks! (In fact it had a longer range than the original unit which I later bought.) Unfortunately it wasn't until after 3 weeks that the micro switch of the Unlock button just fell apart. Since my time was being taken up with more important things, I have not attempted to return the Revain key. I have not yet contacted USRemote to see if they will replace it. New unit lasts longer than 3 weeks I will be revising my review Buyers of this type of key should know the following: The remote is easily programmed to compatible BMWs without a dealer being involved The key can only be transferred to make it fully functional using a working transponder from a working BMW key and find someone that can laser it The transponder needs to be cut from a non-remote BMW key or removed from an older non-diamond-remote key.
