Start Tie one end and twist the rest into a groove.It won't slip down the length easily so make sure the ends are even.Make sure the loop is right side up, gap in the middle, open side down. Rinse all soap off before putting back in tank. My only regret is that I didn't replace both loops in my tank when the first one broke. Another original loop recently broke and a piece of glass shattered .
