Well, in the land of IS/IS mount adapters, I've found that things aren't always what they seem. For example, there are some IS mount calipers that come standard with a 140mm rotor. I bought this brake. It was a Shimano XTR M975 and for the rear it came without an adapter, with a size 140 rotor. So since I have a 160mm rotor that only a real mountain biker can have for the rear, I have this 180mm Bought the adapter and it fits like magic. For this reason, this adapter should not be called a 180mm adapter. Rather, it would have to be called a 20 mm increase. So, 140mm caliper, this adapter will give you a 20mm to 160mm rotor. 160 mm brake caliper, suitable for 180 mm brake disc.
