Nelson-Rigg shoe protector does exactly what I need in one of these shoes . I've had smaller shift pads that work well but are easily lost, especially when the rubber gives out. This one feels like it uses neoprene stretch panels, but doesn't feel like it will break easily. In addition, the midsole helps maintain traction when you plant your foot on the ground. Yes, on a bike not fitting a "shoe” might seem a little odd, but it's easy to take off and hang on the footrest. It also provides protection for the side of the trunk so it doesn't get scratched by dirt on the side of the bike. All in all a reliable product.
