I was looking for an alternative to my aging and too much water consuming R/O system (drinking water only, no full water usage). I live in a place where I pay triple the water bill, and the extra water, about 18 gallons a day, going into the septic tank bothers me. So I figured a jug would save water and money. I've had to keep a close eye on my water meter for 36 years and in the first two weeks of using this jug it has already saved about 250 gallons. Before buying a filter pitcher, I read many reviews and decided on this one. Not because of the reviews, but despite! I read the negative reviews with interest and in light of the company's claims. I wanted the water to be as close to pure alkaline water as possible and most of the filter jugs didn't live up to what I had in mind in my statements. Let me just say that high quality water tastes just as good or even better than reverse osmosis water as it lacks flavor and has a "smooth" texture if that makes sense. Now about the quality of materials. and designs. Others had trouble with it; Not me! We all know that plastic is cheap and even brittle so it should be treated like glass which will also crack or break if not handled very carefully. The advantage of plastic is that it's light compared to glass, which was an important consideration for me. As it fills with water, it becomes much heavier. That's why I bought the smaller 2.5 liter refresh model. I am a woman over 80 years old, live alone and have only used one hand since I was 4 years old, but I did not find any serious flaws in the design, the jug is comfortable to take, it is easy to carry and also accurate in a stainless steel water bottle that I use without anything squirting or dripping out of the bottle's narrow opening. This is a BIG plus for me. The little flip-top over the spout is a little tricky for me to align when replacing the lid after filling, but again that's not the design's fault. As with many other things in life, it takes two hands to get it in the right position, so I experiment carefully until I get it right every time. I had no trouble installing the filter and expect removing and replacing it will be just as easy when the time comes. I set up reception filters automatically via Revain's subscription and retention program, which also saves money and is always ready when needed. I don't need a digital counter on the lid, but I assume a family that uses jugs might find it useful. what this company has to offer. I was delighted with its performance and the way it looked on my counter. My four cats and little Ming Ping also benefit from purified water. We are all happy!
