I have two external monitors, one with an HDMI connector and one with a VGA connector. It was the cheapest docking station I could find that could accept both connections. There are many others that can do the same thing as this one but at twice the price. I also have a mouse and network cable and they all work great. The dock gets warm but never feels hot. I use it all day for work and have never noticed any functional issues or overheating. No driver needs to be installed, just plug and play. So I have two external monitors and my laptop screen, they all work with extended displays, which is very helpful, being able to see three separate windows on each monitor. The design is small, compact and elegant. I had a VGA to HDMI adapter and first tried using that instead of a VGA cable and it didn't seem to work because the picture quality was poor and the aspect ratio was far away (i.e. the desktop screen didn't fill that entire image off screen). Screen). But when connected via VGA and HDMI as described, it worked great and the picture quality was excellent.
