The positive qualities of this wool outweigh one disadvantage - the smell of the outer shell. If your child has to wear this coat upon arrival, beware of the chemical smell. After airing it out after a few days, neither my grandson nor I noticed the smell, which initially put us off when opening the packaging. With that being said, my grandson tried the coat on and gave it 2 thumbs up for the following features: * Overall comfort * Zippers and zipper pulls * Number of pockets (2 front zipper pockets, 1 zipper pocket on one sleeve, 1 inside Velcro pocket, I inside mesh pocket) * the hood fastens inside the velcro pockets on both sides of the zipper, and not directly under the chin.* additional "cuffs" are sewn into the sleeves to protect against rain or snow; or for extra warmth with a thumb hole. *when worn with winter trousers, the rubberized elastic band is loosely sewn in just below the waist to prevent it from being pulled up. If possible we would probably give this coat a 4.5. Hope he does well through the season.
