Defective item fits lamps and ceiling fans

Received a ceiling fan for an apartment in Florida. I hired an electrician to install the fan, but the motor is broken and the fan doesn't work. The electrician had to uninstall and now I don't have the installation fee and also the cost of the defective product! The installation was scheduled more than 30 days after the fan was delivered, so it was only after the return period had passed that I realized the product was defective. If a defective product is sold, the company must accept the return and issue a refund.
