Not super loud but ok. Definitely not for riding, but perfect for riding in the parks. When I tried to install it on the hood of my 105 STI it scratched the rubber. I didn't do anything serious, but I put a piece of tape underneath anyway. The mounting side of the bell body is strongly curved - actually intended for narrower/standard handlebars. Eventually I realized I should mount it lower so it would sit under the main body of the hood. I was expecting to mount it flush/perpendicular to the main rubber body. The main problem is that in this position the plastic strap flexes and can affect braking. During my first ride I was very pleased that the bell seemed very reliable and was easily accessible from both the hood and the drops. But I was also wondering why my front brake feels weird and isn't working well. Basically, you have to be careful not to pull the bell strap too tight. You must have a balance between you that can't move, but still be able to flex, and be loose enough not to interfere with the brake. This is only an issue when mounted on a road bike hood and may not be an issue with other brake/shift systems. I really wish there were installation instructions on the box or a link to an installation video. Would have saved some time fiddling with it to get it set up and calling properly. It's a straightforward setup, but it's a bit quirky and cumbersome, and I wasn't expecting that from a simple accessory. The ringtone is okay - it might not be the loudest or cheapest - but it's a great idea. I know it's your only choice if you want a hood chime. For this reason alone, it can be worthwhile to deal with the special features of the system.
