Perhaps I shouldn't base my review on expectations but something made me think the colors were similar to foil paints or halogens. it's a light change. nope They are printed. It's not quite shiny to the touch, but not bad. Images look like they ran out of ink while printing. I can't point my finger at them, but they appear to be off. The cards in the pictures they show are lighter than the ones we get. I think they put all the ink in the court cards, but then when they started bulk processing they scaled back the ink to save money. In this case, the cards appear worn and faded. Add a semi-glossy gloss to this, then you can't see the image underneath that layer when the light hits the gloss. So when the cards are on the table, we all tilt our heads and turn to see all the cards. On regular cards, the print is so bold that you can see the cards at a glance. You know immediately which card was dealt. I bought Prism and Dusk (same disappointment but much darker). I have no plans to buy the third of these three. I'm sorry. I was looking forward to leaving a positive review.
