It is very important to read the instructions and if you lose them go to their website and download the pdf instructions I lost my instructions and I'm sorry I didn't because I damaged my grips a bit because I didn't know how to properly install the handle.First a few important points: the lock comes with a few pieces of rubber that you can put into the hole to close the hole according to the size of your handle. The smaller your handle size, the more You will need rubber parts to make this lock effective My grip is a bit tight with the large diameter so I got it wrong the first time I put this guy on and the next morning I realized that the lock literally cut into my grips. I was a little disappointed with this, but I couldn't fault the company for throwing away the instructions. The actual pieces that are supposed to line the inside of the lock don't adhere very well. They have glue on the back but I've found that the glue is really bad at holding the rubber in place so you might want to look at the glue or some other type of glue to make sure the rubber pieces stick are in place. Tip: Make sure the glue is fully cured before installing the grips/brake or throttle, otherwise they will fly out when you loosen the lock later and you risk losing them entirely if the lock pops out. You should definitely test the lock the first time before using it for a good eight hours. If the lock looks like it will damage your grips, make sure you put some rubber pieces in the lock to fill that hole OR alternatively use your own stuff to insulate the inside of the lock and avoid damage to avoid your grips. If the lock damages your grips, you may be placing them in the wrong place. Therefore, check that they are correctly positioned on the handles. As said, use the rubber parts and follow the instructions if you can. My grip was too big to use rubber parts without cutting the grips so I stopped using them. All in all, this is a great product if you can follow the directions. The lock is strong and locks the crank/brake (or throttle together) well. Glue on the rubber parts most likely won't help you, so be prepared to use a different type of glue to hold these guys in place. Grip lock location and position is critical not only to the health of your grips, but also to the ease of locking and unlocking the grip lock when getting off/on the bike. The lock is a great deterrent but you will probably need other security mechanisms because if someone wants to steal your bike I can give you three things that would make it possible if this lock was the only one on the bike. But it's really great for an extra layer of security if you have other things like hard drive lock, GPS tracking, chains, etc. to keep this thing safe.
