My second dog is a 14 year old toy poodle who has diabetes, kidney problems, blindness and partial dementia. Finding low carb dog food has been very difficult. Even high quality dog food that claims to contain corn/peas or no grain was high in carbs when I saw that sweet potato was listed as an ingredient. Dog food manufacturers don't provide nutritional information like they do with human food, so it's difficult to determine the amount of carbohydrates per serving. My dog was constantly drinking water and urinating all over the place to get the sugar out of her bloodstream. She even cried at night because she had to drink more water when she drank her whole bowl of water! Since she was on a ketogenic dog food diet, her drinking and urination are normal, her health appears to be better because her sugar is low. He doesn't drink water at night, he sleeps well. In fact, she's urinating significantly less, that's a long time ago. Her health has stabilized and now that she has more energy she even walks a little more. It has done wonders for her health and I am very happy and pleased with how well she is doing on keto dog food. I do not agree. This is a miracle dog food, it has made a world of difference for older dogs with health issues. I definitely recommend it.
