Review on πŸ”Œ Treatlife Smart Ceiling Fan Control and Dimmer Light Switch 2PACK: Wi-Fi Enabled, Works with Alexa, Google Home, and SmartThings - Remote Control, Neutral Wire Required by Stephen Johnson

Make sure your fan has 5 wires going to switch

I bought them by mistake. We have 2 fans that are very high (cathedral ceilings) and almost impossible to reach. The previous owners either had remotes and lost them, or the installer didn't notice when they installed it and there are no remotes. I figured these switches could control the fan and light separately from a single switch. I'm writing this so someone else with a similar problem can look elsewhere. If you have a fan on a switch, this is NOT for you. The fan and light must already be controlled by separate switches for this switch/dimmer to work. If you choose to install this, it will only control part of the fan, either the fan or the light. You still have to manually turn on the light or fan with wires. Whatever it is, it's controlled by the dimmer, not both, unless you have a separate wire controlling the fan. So before you buy, make sure you have the following wires: neutral (white), two pins, hot, and a fan wire that connects to your switch. Only 5 (plus country). If you don't, this will only control part of your fan and you will need to run an extra wire from your fan to the switch to control the fan (probably tricky DIY wiring through the wall). This review is just for others in the same boat so you don't make the same mistake I did.
