Microphone jack does not work with Apple Macbook Air and standalone microphone. If you look at TRRS, CTIA or OMTP you will see different configurations. It's confusing that Apple put an external shield as the microphone input and grounded it internally to the nearest ring. So not visible from the outside. This adapter does not ground if you only want to connect an independent microphone. The headset should be grounded to the headphone ground. Also on the microphone side, it is assumed that the end of the microphone jack is matched to the grommet as required by the CTIA standard. But. Without ground assigned to Ring 2 on the microphone jack, it cannot be used alone. It would be nice if the ground on the side of the microphone for CTIA is properly connected and the product says: CTIA. If you want to use this with a gaming headset, first make sure you connect your microphone and headphones to the adapter and then to your MAC. This is the only way to see the microphone. I didn't really like the microphone input. It's not Startek's fault. All of this is crazy.
