Works well with PS4 controller only 2 months. Be careful, this can damage the headset.

I had previously bought another brand because it was a few bucks cheaper but wasn't happy because it was free. This stays connected to the controller and is not bulky. The color is nice too as it acts as a headphone cord extender. Just remember to connect it to the controller first BEFORE plugging in the headset. UPDATE: 2 months after purchasing the headset and this adapter (I ONLY use the headset on weekends) it now sounds "scratchy" which compels me to plug it directly into PS4. Still, Iโ€ฆ

Had to spend an extra $6 to make it work

Overall I have to give it three stars. It didn't work when I tried to use my Plantronics headset/mic (separate headphone and mic jacks) with my Google Nexus 5X phone. Upon investigating the issue, I found that this adapter conforms to the "CTIA" specification, which I only learned about from the "answered question" on this page. It would be nice if this information was included in Revain's product information. Anyway, I also found out that my Nexus 5X phone is compatible with another standardโ€ฆ

This Y should work fine for Android mics.

The Android spec indicates that ordering LRGM (from the note) is REQUIRED and LRMG is optional but highly recommended. In addition, the headset detection sequence must be implemented. This is documented at https://source.android.com/devices/accessories/headset/jack-headset-spec.html. I have the Element and I established which connections it was by plugging a male to male TRS cable into the mic/headphone jack. . Referring to the connection at the connector as TRRS (Tip, First Ring, Second Ringโ€ฆ

The standalone microphone does not work in Macbook Air.

Microphone jack does not work with Apple Macbook Air and standalone microphone. If you look at TRRS, CTIA or OMTP you will see different configurations. It's confusing that Apple put an external shield as the microphone input and grounded it internally to the nearest ring. So not visible from the outside. This adapter does not ground if you only want to connect an independent microphone. The headset should be grounded to the headphone ground. Also on the microphone side, it is assumed that theโ€ฆ
