Review on 🚐 Hughes Autoformers RV 2130-SP: 30 Amp Voltage Booster with Surge Protection - Enhance RV Power Efficiency & Safety by David Caldwell

Voltage increase not as specified

Well made. Looks good. Compact for what it is. Auto-acceleration is not a disadvantage and it is not your only solution. The voltage rises to a minimum of about 8%. This results in 130V from a 120V source. This may be technically fine for most devices, but could get dangerous if the voltage increased a bit. While many sites tend to be on the low campground soda, I've seen some hit 125 BEFORE each boost. This level of boost can also cause the switch to trip. Transformers work by increasing the voltage, but ideally the power remains the same on both sides (technically higher on the source side due to power losses). This means that the current on the source side is larger than on the sink side. Even at 130V, some devices still draw a higher current. I found it completely unusable at our last facility as it kept tripping the 30 amp circuit breaker. I'll probably keep it in case I'm in a low voltage installation, but I won't recommend it to others.

  • Complete LED parking power diagnosis
Cons
  • Weight
